I always dreamt of being a hero as a kid — probably due to my love of comic books, sci-fi and being taught to do the right thing by my parents.
So it wasn’t a complete surprise when I entered the business world and made a career of jumping in where others wouldn’t — taking on the assignments that no one else wanted, like turnarounds and newly-acquired companies.
More than 25 years of my career were spent working in the food service, facilities services and staffing industries. My diverse background includes senior executive roles in general management and sales with Aramark. I even ran a staffing company that placed rocket scientists and engineers with NASA suppliers in support of America’s space program.
Starting my journey as a coach included taking the same skills assessments that I share with my clients. Once I learned about my strengths and how to use them, it was obvious to me why I made the career decisions I did.
My Top Five Strengths are:
These strengths came in handy turning businesses around. I also had a lot of fun helping organizations execute on their objectives and learned a lot:
- I learned that having talented leaders and engaged teams were essential elements for creating a performance culture capable of achieving the impact needed to return businesses to profitability.
- I learned how to work with a very diverse set of clients and customers – from the C-suite to the shop floor; Fortune 500 firms to small business owners.
- I learned to listen well, ask insightful questions and deliver solutions to my customers that helped them succeed and exceeded their expectations.
Today, I help organizations gain a competitive advantage by igniting and strengthening their leaders’ inner talents and transforming them into role models that lead engaged teams.
The results? My clients (and their employees) are happier, more successful and the companies they work for outperform their peers. By. A. Lot.
In my alter ego of mild-mannered husband, I enjoy listening to loud music and hanging out with my wife and our dog Pica. I also bike thousands of miles each year, am on the board of Bike Works, and enjoy doing my weekly shift as a DJ Assistant at KEXP.
And, I always try to be the person my dog thinks I am!
